vLetter Funk Font — FREE!

This handwriting font is one of our oldest fonts, having been developed in 1973 for the funk band “Stankie” out of Detroit. The band was unusual in that in place of guitars and a Hammond organ, “Stankie” featured a kazoo, an accordion and a bass clarinet. Unfortunately, the band was unable to find a funky groove with their instrumentation and broke up. However, Billy Hatch, their accordion player and main funkmeister, went on to play on two albums with James Brown.
