This is the handwriting of Archie (Arch) McDonnell, the inventor of the styptic pencil. If you don’t know what it is, look it up. Arch started a small company in Boston in 1887 to produce the pencils. After competition materialized, Arch needed to shave manufacturing costs to preserve his razor-thin margins. Despite all this, he came within a hair of bankruptcy. As small bandages became available, he continually had to slice his forecasts and eventually had to cut ties with the business altogether.
