This is the handwriting of Hanford Addington, of London England. Hanford was the chief technician for Alexander Graham Bell, In 1875, Bell created an acoustic telegraph which he patented in March 1876 following a close race with American inventor Elisha Gray. Strangely, Hanford was completely deaf, which surprisingly came in handy in working w/Bell as Bell was known for his emotional, loud tirades aimed at his subordinates. Alexander got lucky – the Thomas A. Watson in the famous quote – “Mr. Watson, come here — I want to see you.” experienced only minor hearing damage in his years with Bell and was able to hear him! The rest is history!
