vLetter Al Font — FREE!
This is the handwriting of Al Foster who was a gas station owner in Chicago, Illinois. He was the first to add tenths of a cent to gas prices, passing on a “temporary” federal tax of 1/10th cent. It soon caught on and as taxes increased, the gas station owners just kept on adding the tenths of cents until it reached 9/10ths. From then on it was marketing. As for how much that 9/10th’s of a cent per gallon adds up to, in 2014, the fuel industry as a whole in the United States brought home an additional $1.2 billion with that 9/10th’s of a penny rather than rounding down to the nearest cent (came out of our pockets)! The development of this font was financially supported by the Gas Station Owners Association of America based in Des Moines, Iowa (they paid for it out of that $1.2 billion).
