vLetter Elm Font — FREE!
This is the handwriting of Christina Johanna Buisman, one of two Dutch women who first described Dutch Elm disease and its cause in 1920’s. Dutch Elm disease (DED) devastated the elm population in both the U.S. and Europe. It has been estimated that only approximately 1 in 100,000 American elm trees is DED-tolerant, most known survivors simply having escaped exposure to the disease. Much progress has been made in identifying disease resistant clones and the early work of Christina made this progress possible. I might be going “out on a limb”, but if I were an Elm tree, I “wood” be thankful “fir” the work she did.
