vLetter Fonora Font — FREE!

The Fonora font was used by Herman Oglethorpe in the advertising copy for his new style hat. In the late 30‘s fedoras had become widely associated with gangsters Lucky Luciano and Meyer Lansky. They “asked” Herman to develop a new hat that resembled a fedora, but with extra space in the top to hold a handgun. The style took off, but the FBI soon closed down Herman’s fonora shop in the Bronx and alas, all we have left is the font. Herman’s great grandson Prentice provided us with the advertising copy and financial support for the development of the font.
