vLetter Gilding Font — FREE!

font image

This font is handwriting of Amrose Cushing III of Syracuse NY, who made millions gilding baby shoes. In the ’50’s and ’60, baby’s first shoes were often gold plated (gilded) and treasured by parents. As the price of gold escalated, most suppliers changed to “bronzing” instead of “gilding”. Ambrose was determined to preserve his “gilding” business. Unfortunately, as the price of gold started to escalate, Ambrose tried to keep customers and his bank account happy. He gradually substituted copper for more of the gold until he was caught and prosecuted. Proves the old adage “All that glitters is not gold”!
