This is the handwriting of George Carney who, in 1912 invented the first swing cuff (one open jaw could swing through 360 degrees). This design was revolutionary, as it made it possible for a law enforcement officer to quickly secure the cuffs with just one hand, without a key, greatly improving security and ease of use. Remember, if you use handcuffs “recreationally”, that they can cause Cheiralgia Paresthetica, a superficial radial nerve branch compression mononeuropathy. Wouldn’t want that to happen to a loved one!
