This is the handwriting of Dr. Jurgen Pagong of the University of the Phillippines Dillman. Dr. Pagong is one of the top experts in sea turtle rescue and the inventor of a new method of keeping the endangered turtles out of gillnets. He’s designed a system of attaching low power green LED’s to the nets. Early results show a decrease of over 60% in turtle catches in gillnets. The shellacking of sea turtle numbers may be at an end.
