vLetter Obadiah Font — FREE!
This is a the handwriting of Obadiah Parker, former pastor of the Full Gospel Tabernacle in God’s Name in Paw Paw, West Virginia. Obadiah died August 13th, 2015, several hours after being bitten by a rattlesnake during church services. Snake handling at religious services is most common in southern Appalachian states. The basis for the practice is a passage in the Gospel of Mark. Approximately 125 churches in Appalachia use poisonous snakes weekly in their services. Obadiah was the victim of a classic story relayed by Aesop in “The Farmer and the Viper” where kindness to evil will be met by betrayal. Well, I know several snakes personally and they aren’t inherently evil. Just don’t rattle their cage, try to constrict their movement or asp about the movie “Snakes on a Plane” – they all hate it!
