vLetter Wimpy Font — FREE!

This is a font inspired by one of the cartoon characters in Popeye – J. Wellington Wimpy. Known for his famous line, “I’ll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today”. At the time, Wimpy was considered an icon of financial irresponsibility. Unknown to most, he saved his $.15 one at a time and opened Burger Chef, an early, albeit unsuccessful competitor to McDonalds. The development of this font was financially supported by Popeye and Olive Oyl’s descendants. As an aside, In 2014 the final season of the television drama Mad Men featured the fictional ad agency Sterling Cooper & Partners pursuing Burger Chef as a client.
