vLetter Rob Font — FREE!
Rob McWhirter of Mattapoisett, MA, directed the groundbreaking marketing campaign of the now famous Ginsu knives. This is one of first commercial fonts we ever designed (before my time). Rod used this font in the thousands of letters he sent to distributors in an effort to persuade them to carry his knives – then branded as “Quickut” and made in the USA. The name didn’t work. Rob then re-branded the products as Ginsu in an effort to align with the popular Japanese Samurai culture. Boom!
In 2013, Consumer Reports reviewed the Ginsu Chikara knife set in their comparison of fifty knife sets and rated it as their “Best Buy”. It tied for fourth place in quality, at less than a quarter of the price of similarly rated models.
